Second only to watching others snowboard, one of the greatest things in snowboarding is hating on snowboard message boards. Normally, the flaming is between overly qualified 13-year-olds from middle America suburbia. But it seems that mega-corporation Burton snowboards has joined the melee.
After one of TWsnow’s notorious commentors lambasted Burton’s new flick “It’s Always Snowing Somewhere,” Burton countered with a heavy post on it’s News and Events page.

And once again, Burton does something edgy and gets everybody talking. Snowboard moms and shred clerics are up in arms over Burton’s “bare-it-all” 08/09 LOVE boards, whose graphics feature nude Playmate models.

As public informers, agr is compelled to reveal that Burton’s sensational marketing scheme really is “old-hat.” Nice try Burton. Nudity, private-parts, and poop jokes have been a part of snow and snowboarding since the Ice Age.

If there is something to take away from the chaos wrecking havoc on Wall Street, it is this: diversify your assets. This is what our friend Gryme Tyme has done.
Gryme Tyme is a rap artist from Denver, Colorado that has guns and “produces his own shit.” But he doesn’t limit himself to just one name. He also goes by “Kid Cholula, The Navajo Prince” and Mitch Reed. You may remember Mitch Reed as the Burton rider from several Standard, Burton, and FODT films. OMG BFF WTF ROFL CUL8R!?!?!?
Gryme Tyme has …

The doods over at Cool Hunting served up a slice of new hotness this morning. Just the way we like to start our day.
“Burton Private Stock is an extremely limited collection of products available exclusively at a select group of 100 specialty retailers worldwide. For the launch of Private Stock, Burton collaborated with one of Cool Hunting’s favorites, Ron English. Known for his politically charged illustrations and subverted billboards, English’s works are used on the Burton Hero and women’s Blender snowboards which are both available for $400. The collection also …

A friend of a friend told agr about a letter in the newest issue of the skiing magazine POWDER that we thought we would share. The person who penned the letter is referring to the marketing campaign where snowboarders were called on to “poach” the remaining skiers-only resorts.
Dear Jake Burton Carpenter,
On Behalf of all your upper class, white cutomers, i would like to thank you and your gian corporation for fighting the “fascist” depredations of four ski areas. Thanks for takin a break from making American Express ads to take …

…and cuts mad fools! Rumors have been flying about the shakeups on the Burton team, so agr is going to take a moment to lay these matters to rest. To refresh yr memory, the hoopla is about the following riders no longer being listed on the Burton Global Team: Romain De Marchi; DCP; Keir Dillon; Ross Powers; JP Solberg and Anne-Flore Marxer (via TWBiz). And the answer my faithful readers, lies within this video…

Holy canoli, another damn collaboration. Everybody is doing collabs, even our toast: it collaborated with some raspberry jelly and came out amazing. But this collection from Burton tastes like putting dish soap on our …

“A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.”
-Lao Tzu
Wise words Lao. Unfortunately, claiming “vagabond” as a profession doesn’t sound as cool to everyone as it does to us.
Plus we really miss the hippness of Seattle . As delightful as the snow of the Wasatch was, the scarcity of chai and incomprehensible indie music that no one knows about left us culturally starved. So we’ve returned home, to the city where drinking malt liquor is cool as long as your pants are snug, …
