Survival Gear for ME!

18 January 2008 No Comment

agoodreed was on the slopes yesterday. As much as we have enjoyed the phenomenal winter thus far, it was refreshing to get some ol’ PNW peanut butter aka Cascade concrete. Unfortunately, after one run, this reeder was soaked, cold, and pissed at the world.I tried to swap gear with one of the yokels (see image), but he wouldn’t settle for anything other than a libYokelThat’s when I remembered the 15 Below project of Toronto design firm Taxi.To commemorate their 15th anniversary, Taxi decided to give back to the community. When the temps drop below -15 degrees C, the Canadian government issues a Cold Alert. To assist the homeless in these times, Taxi designed the 15 Below jacket.”The jacket would be breathable, waterproof, lightweight, and the lining would be made up of pockets throughout. And these pockets would be able to be stuffed with newspaper to provide adjustable levels of insulation from the cold.”3,000 jackets are to be distributed to people living on the streets in the US and Canada. An open letter to taxi:Though I am not on the streets yet, my parents are starting to ask: “what the hell are you doing with your life and with our money???” The gig is almost up. I need some functional outerwear. Taxi, let’s talk sponsorships.Sincerely, agoodreeder
