The reports of economic hardship befalling the snowboard industry just don’t stop. But fear not ‘goodreeders (and multi-national corporations bent on tapping youth markets), there is hope. Snowboarders are an innovative and voracious bunch, and still have the sure-fire sales booster:

Designing snowboard equipment like food.

The Denver Post reports:

Bacon was the first thing that came to mind when longtime rider Roby Peabody started thinking about building a custom snowboard…”How cool would that be, to be riding around on a big piece of bacon?” asked Peabody…So he scanned a strip of bacon — real bacon;” (via Denver Post)

…and slapped it on a snowboard! This latest snowboard-cuisine hits a soft spot with us. Progression beyond innovation. If only we could sit-in on one of these snowboard design brainstorm sessions
