Naturally, we are the last to post this, but we are all aboard the “Help Cody Bandwagon”.

Cody Rosenthal recently broke his L3 vertebrae on day two of Super Park 13. He was flown out of Mammoth Lakes Hospital to Renown Hospital in Reno and is currently in ICU. His surgery takes place May 10, 2009.

Like most talented snowboarders in this industry, Cody does not have Health Insurance. Any donations anyone can give are deeply appreciated. Check out his facebook support page to find out more infoand you can donate directly to paypal here.

Update 5/10 from facebook: Cody’s surgery went very very well!!!! He has two metal rods on each side connecting to his L2 and L4 to support and take the pressure off the broken L3 vertebra. It just time for him to heal and keep giving him positive vibes and motivation! thanks again for all the support you all have given him. Also thank you for all the donations so far!

We have some thoughts on this situation.

  1. Cody: Our thoughts are with you. Watch a lot of cartoons and learn to play the ukulele or something. Chicks will go wild.
  2. Snowboarder Superpark, aka “Sign-me-up-for-disabled-list-camp”, is silly. Here’s our take. Superpark is an opportunity for jealous industry types to try to kill pro snowboarders under the guise of promoting “progression”.
  3. We all should kick Cody a little scratch, AGoodReed did. And we had to steal the money we donated.
  4. You know who should be the top donors to Cody’s fund? Snowboarder Magzine and the event presenter Gatorade. There we said it. The guantlet has been thrown.

[Editor Note: In the initial incarnation of this post, we stated that the jump Mr. Cody was injured on was built by Loon Mountain. A friendly reeder informed us that this was not the case. Thanks for the tip amigo. Loon Mountain, your fruit basket is in the mail.]

Loon didn’t build the jump that Cody missed the landing on. Leave them out of your uninformed commentary.

Loon didn’t build the jump Cody fell on so please remove any mention of them from this post. Don’t delete this.

thanks for the clarification. loon is part of my home hood and they make solid solid park features. but the important thing to focus on is a speedy recovery for Cody. props for posting this to gain awareness.
