Shockingly, there was another extreme sport festivalpalooza in California this past weekend. It sure is nice knowing that while us non-OC dwellers go about our uneventful lives, the state of California is constantly downing energy drinks and jumping motor vehicles through the air.

The skateboarding that takes place in the X Games is a unique blend of skate video games and WWF wrestling. X Games spectators don’t give a damn about technical mastery or timeless style–they want to see the laws of physics broken and bones shattered.

No one knows this better than Danny Way. We were happy to see Danny Way to walk away from X Games 15 not only breathing, but with a gold in the Big Air Rail Jam. As if rail jams weren’t sketchy enough, the new X Games event has contestants launch off of a 62-foot-high, 293-foot-long mega ramp and try to slide along an arched metal rail while soaring over a 50-foot gap.

Lots of consequences on this feature folks. ESPN collected some advice from a grip of skaters on how best to approach the feature. Offerings included: “I don’t know.” “Magnetic soap shoes.” “Have a couple beers before you get on there.” “No underwear.”

But Danny Way is on another level. He employed the mad scientists of DC Shoes/NASA to create a mega shoe for him. The shoe features more gadgets than a Japanese 11-year-old can comprehend. Take a gander at the promo video.

We can’t wait for the next model.

just as a reminder, it’s not WWF anymore. where have you been?

At any rate i would like to make the comment that i think that MEGA-anything (maybe not Megatron, cause cirque 1980’s that was pretty legit, not the new one mind you) is stupid.
