2009/2010 Ride Crush (via AKJay)

We have seen a lot of collaborations in the snowboard land lately. In hopes of being cool, snowboard companies have commissioned trendy artists to draw pictures on their products. We have not been the biggest fans of most collaborations, but Ride got it right. Read on.

School’s in, suckers! The Classroom Collaboration hits the slopes.

After taking a long, hard look at other artistic collaborations across the industry, Ride’s designers took a step back and thought about the kind of collab they wanted on their ’09-’10 gear and decided to strike out in a new direction. Instead of teaming up with a hoity toity artist, Ride embarked on a collaborative project with Pam Neithercott’s third period art class at Denny Middle School (West Seattle, Wash.). Promoting both art and snowboarding within the local youth community, Ride sought out a nearby Seattle school with an art program in need and proudly donated funds for art supplies and provided an on-hill snowboard day for the kids.

The on-hill field trip took place Monday, March 30th. The Ride in-house crew met up with 20 Denny students at their school, hopped on the charter bus and headed up to the Summit at Snoqualmie. The weather and temp made it ideal for these first-timers, and with a good ratio of students to seasoned shredders, the kids were on the lift and riding in no time.
