A Tempting Offer…

Nearing the end of our academic career, the questions of “What are you doing with your life?” have ramped up to an all-time high. Not fun stuff, we usually end up crying.

But now, we have a response to the inquisitions of friends and family. We are going “vagabonding.”

Well we haven’t won yet, but we like the idea of the Digital Vagabonding “Roads Scholarship” contest:

The winner will be paid a stipend of $1,200* a month to travel North America this summer (June through September of 2009) and share their travel articles and photo essays on Digital Vagabonding.com…The winner will also get a ticket to the Burning Man Festival… [via Digital Vagabonding]

* $1,200 a month! That is $2,486 more than we make now!

Can it get any better than that? Getting paid to be sketchy and write on the Internet? It is a match made in heaven for AGoodReed.

The winning applications will be announced after May 15th. The only thing holding us back from taking this contest by storm the application process. To be frank, we aren’t good at it (perhaps this is why the “job” thing hasn’t worked out too well). So we are going to use this website as a platform to make our case of why we should receive the “Roads Scholarship.”

  • We don’t like showering.
  • We don’t know how to change a tire.
  • We will eat things from off the ground.
  • We have a safari hat.
  • We excel at stealing wireless Internet.
  • We have a terrible sense of direction.
  • We like to pee outdoors.
  • We will ride a bear. We promise.

    This is incredible! Who would have ever thought living in a garage for a year and my car this whole winter would have ever paid off?? Plus I have a VW bus! Too bad I’ll be vagabonding in Ecuador for 2 months right in the middle of this little contest. Cripes.

    But, if there’s anyone that deserves this vagabond adventure, it’s you guys.

    And I definitely feel ya about the whole “what the F am I going to do with my life” thing… Having just finished up school with no interest in getting a real job, I just tell everyone I’m going to figure out what to do when I return from my South American surf adventure… IF, I ever return.

    I would love to see you ride a bear also. May the force be with you.
